This is an image for a forthcoming edition of Portugese magazine A23. It is an article about the leader of the main party (PSD). She apparently sees herself as a bit of a saviour of the country and the party and the author of the article compares her to a legendary Portugese figure, Padiera De Aljubarrota who killed 7 Spanish with her baking shovel during a war in 1385. Hence the image.
I'm very happy to have had this commission, as it's the first for a magazine that I've received, which will mean that it's in full colour and on good stock. Hopefully this will give the illustration a bit of a lift when printed. I should also be getting another commission for this edition of A23, which will be great too. The only problem I had with the illustration below was that I was given only a few hours to produce it! The magazine was already late due to not having received the text that I was to illustrate, so I had to get it done asap! It was a great experience for me to work that fast, although not ideal! I'll have the tearsheets up here as soon as I get them.
